SUBJECT: Art and Religion
GRADE LEVEL (S): Could be adapted for
ALL grades.
OBJECTIVE: To make an Easter treat that
reminds us of the resurrection of Jesus.
TIME: One class period of 35 minutes
minimum (add baking and tasting time!)
TEACHER MATERIAL (S): Kids Explore Americas
Catholic Heritage pgs. 167-168.
MATERIALS (per bun):
canned refrigerated biscuits (1 for each student)
one large marshmallow
rolling pin (optional)
flour(for the rolling pin and waxed paper)
waxed paper
a large greased pan
ACTIVITIES:
Share background material from Kids Explore
page 167.
Open the canned biscuit dough and take an individual
portion of it and flatten it onto a piece of
waxed paper.
Place one large marshmallow in the center of
the flattened dough.
Fold the dough over the marshmallow.
Pinch the dough tightly on the top to seal the
marshmallow in. Make sure none of the marshmallow
is showing.
Place the bun on a greased baking pan and put
it in the oven.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes.
Remove from oven and cool.
Enjoy eating the treat and talking about Jesus.
