SUBJECTS: Writing, Religion, Biographies,
Skit/Play Writing, Acting, and Costuming
GRADE LEVELS: 3rd-8th
OBJECTIVES:
Students will gain a better knowledge of important
people and events in Americas Catholic
history.
Students will demonstrate ability to convey
material through a skit format.
Students will demonstrate ability to work in
cooperative groups.
TIME: Three 45-minute class periods
(these should be spread out over 5-10 days to
allow for the making of costumes and props at
home)
MATERIALS:
Kids Explore Americas Catholic Heritage
- pages 7-37
Costumes and props provided by children
ACTIVITIES:
Day 1. Students choose a group to work
with. Groups should be approximately 2-4 students.
Groups read the chapter; picks the character
or event to portray; and writes a short presentation.
Day 2. Practice Day: students bring completed
materials from home and practice skit. Another
day could be added if skits merited.
Day 3. Class presentations.
EXTENSION: Teacher may choose to invite
other classes to the presentations.
