From
its release in February 2002, Kids Explore America's Catholic
Heritage leapt onto the charts, debuting at #1 in April
2002 on the Catholic Bestsellers List in the Children and Young
People category. This marks the first time that publisher Pauline
Books & Media has held a #1 spot. Kids
Explore America's Catholic Heritage was researched, written,
and illustrated by 105 young authors, in grades three through
seven, from the Archdiocese of Denver. The children, under the
guidance of 39 teachers and numerous volunteers, prepared the
book during a three-week Young Writers Workshop directed by Judy
Cozzens. Eighth in the "Kids Explore" series written
by and for children, Kids Explore America's Catholic Heritage
shares an enjoyable journey through the Catholic faith in chapters
on History, American Saints, Growing Up Catholic, Mass and Worship,
Miracles, Vocations, Faith In Action, and Hands-On Fun. In addition
to the nearly 300 black and white illustrations and photos, the
184 page paperback showcases craft ideas and seasonal recipes.
The book is intended to be a primer on the Catholic faith and
lesson plans are included on this website in the "How to
Use" section. All
profits from the sales of Kids Explore America's Catholic
Heritage go to support Catholic education. Most of the
funds will provide scholarships for children with financial needs
to assist them in attending Catholic schools through the Seeds
of Hope program. The goal is to raise $100,000. | |
